The ADA requires hotels and other public facilities to provide equal access to people with disabilities. Hotel rooms must be equipped with specific assistive systems for Deaf or Hearing Impaired guests. ADA Accessibility Guidelines, published by the U.S. Department of Justice, state you must offer the following devices:
- Text Telephone (TTY/TDD)
- Notification Systems
- Telephone Amplifier
- Closed-Caption TV Decoder
- Visual Smoke Detector
The chart below illustrates the number of rooms that are required to be equipped based on the total number of rooms in the facility.
